American red oak grain is straight, with a coarse, uneven texture. The pores are so large and open that it is said that a person can blow into one end of the wood, and air will come out the other end.

Red American oak is the trade name for eight commercially available species within the large group of oaks and is an attractive timber. It is a hard and heavy wood in light to medium brown color and often has some red tone. Red American oak has straight fibers and large pores. It is easy to process and it is good to bend with steam. Use it for flooring, furnishing and furniture.
